Weird Sounding Dude

Back

From Bangalore’s underground to the international progressive house circuit, Weird Sounding Dude combines hypnotic grooves, unconventional rhythms and adventurous sound design.

There’s something fittingly unconventional about Weird Sounding Dude’s approach to progressive house. Emerging from Bangalore’s underground electronic music scene, Abhijith Hegde has developed a distinctive sound that rarely follow predictable paths. Drawing inspiration from artists including James Holden, Extrawelt and Nathan Fake, the self-taught producer has built an extensive catalogue spanning Anjunadeep, Sudbeat, The Soundgarden, Hoomidaas and Movement Recordings. His productions have earned consistent support from John Digweed, Hernán Cattáneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Above & Beyond, with tracks such as Hyper Dream and Step Up showcasing his ability to balance hypnotic repetition with melodic experimentation. Having established himself as one of India's recognised progressive house exports, Weird Sounding Dude continues to explore the more adventurous corners of the genre without losing sight of the dancefloor.
