Three decades into his career, Christian Smith continues to push forward with his unmistakable groove-driven sound.
Christian Smith has spent three decades proving that techno can be tough, functional and full of groove without sacrificing its sense of adventure. Raised in Frankfurt during the city's formative electronic music years, the Swedish-born DJ and producer developed an instinct for rhythm that would become the backbone of his sound. In 1995, he launched Tronic, a label that has grown from a personal outlet into one of techno's most prolific institutions, releasing music from ANNA, Enrico Sangiuliano, Paco Osuna and Wehbba. Smith's own productions have found homes on Drumcode, Bedrock and Filth On Acid, while his restless touring schedule has taken him from São Paulo's clubs to Ibiza residencies and dancefloors across the globe. Nearly 30 years after founding Tronic, his approach remains remarkably consistent: keep the groove moving, resist standing still and never lose sight of what makes a record work on a dancefloor.
