Moshic

Back

A pioneer of progressive house's darker dimensions, Moshic blends cinematic tension into deeply hypnotic electronic music.

At a time when progressive house was increasingly drawn towards euphoric melodies and trance influences, Moshic was heading somewhere darker. The producer developed a sound steeped in brooding atmospheres, tribal rhythms and cinematic tension, drawing on his early experiences in New York's underground scene, where Sasha and John Digweed were redefining the possibilities of electronic music at Twilo. Releasing his earliest productions under the Argonout alias, he gained international recognition with Nightstalker, an underground favourite that appeared on influential compilations from Danny Howells and Jimmy Van M. A landmark BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and his Distorted Patterns compilation further established his reputation, while his own Contrast Records became a home for the darker, more experimental side of progressive house. More than two decades on, Moshic remains committed to the sound he helped pioneer, favouring atmosphere, emotional weight and hypnotic storytelling over passing trends.
