From the formative Bedrock releases to decades of solo productions, Nick Muir has helped shape the musical identity of progressive house.
Some of progressive house's most enduring records bear the fingerprints of Nick Muir, a musician whose influence stretches back to the genre's formative years. Long before electronic music became his calling, the British producer worked as a session keyboardist throughout the 1980s, developing the musical instincts that would later define his studio partnership with John Digweed. Together, under the Bedrock moniker, they helped shape the sound of progressive house with landmark productions including For What You Dream Of, famously featured in Trainspotting, and the timeless club anthem Heaven Scent. Beyond Bedrock, Muir has built an extensive catalogue of solo productions, remixes and soundtrack work, bringing a musician's ear for harmony and arrangement to electronic music. Equally accomplished behind the decks, he continues to perform internationally, particularly in South America, where his music has cultivated a devoted following. More than three decades into his electronic music career, Muir remains a vital creative force, bridging progressive house's rich history with its continuing evolution.
