Steve Lawler has spent three decades shaping underground house with his dark, tribal grooves and uncompromising dancefloor philosophy.
From organising illegal raves beneath Birmingham’s M42 motorway to becoming one of Ibiza’s most celebrated residents, Steve Lawler has spent over three decades immersed in the culture of underground dance music. Emerging from Britain’s acid house explosion, he developed a distinctive sound built around dark, tribal percussion, hypnotic grooves and an unwavering commitment to the dancefloor. His nine-year residency at Space Ibiza earned him the nickname “King of Space”, while his legendary Harlem Nights parties at London’s The End and influential Dark Drums and Lights Out mix series helped define an era of progressive and underground house. As the founder of VIVa MUSiC and the driving force behind the Warriors events, Lawler has continued to champion new talent and push his sound across house and techno. His extensive catalogue includes releases on Bedrock, Drumcode, Cocoon, Hot Creations and Ovum, reflecting a career built on musical instinct, relentless curiosity and a deep understanding of club culture.
